Unacceptable! Note to staff: I've eaten there before and it was pretty good; I might have even said excellent if there was just a touch of humility in the way you present yourselves (I'm talking mostly to the host, but you seem to be rubbing off on your colleagues; if you weren't so self absorbed you would realize that the restaurant does well despite of you not because of you; and your rude smugness really puts a dampener on the otherwise enjoyable evening. This past Saturday 3/14/15: If you're fully booked there is no reason to be rude about it. My gf is a vegan so her choices in small towns can be limited, so we thought we might give it another shot. The person that answered the phone could not have been more rude! By the sound of his voice I'm presuming he's a young gay maitre d' that's unjustifiably proud of his position and if he worked for me... he'd be terminated immediately. Word for word this is how the call went: "Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible for you to accommodate my girlfriend and I for dinner tonight" "We're full... ... ... (Followed by silence)" (Since this is not typically how restaurants explain that they're full booked for the entire evening, I wondered if he thought I meant I wanted to come in immediately... So I attempted to elaborate) "Full? All night? We'd be happy to take a later table if possible?" "We're FULL! "Click"" (he hung up). Surely it would be far more reasonable/acceptable if you simply shared that you were in fact "fully booked for the entire evening", even possibly go as far as to offer "perhaps there's another night we could accommodate you?"; or any language indicating how you certainly appreciate our patronage because without us you realize you would be peacocking without an audience. Whomever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself as you have cost your employer future business. It's easy to be fully booked at a ski resort on a Saturday night, but it's the overall service and relationships you build that keep you busy; something you're not smart enough to know and need to be taught. Kudos: In my 39 years of life, 20 years of business, homes on 3 continents, and trips to almost every corner of the world, you're the first restaurant to leave a bad taste in my mouth just by calling you on the phone. PS. When I related this story to the desk at my hotel, she said that was the reputation u have and she never recommends anyone to go there because if it. I wonder how many people feel this way and much business you've lost already.

We found this Inn on yelp. This review applies only to the dining as we didn't spend the night there. Although we didn't get to enjoy fine dining with a view as advertised, we did enjoy it very much. The servers were very warm and courteous. The food could be considered a bit but not overly pricy. if you want quality, you'll have to pay for it. I ordered the quail with kale which was well prepared and presented and, I must say, delicious. My wife ordered their ribeye which was cooked to my wife's liking which can be an arduous task, if you know my wife. The ambience was great, relatively quiet, sweet music piping in from the speakers which made for quite a romantic evening.

We just had our first (definitely not last!) visit to Deerhill Inn this past weekend. It was a dual purpose weekend for us in VT; celebrating our anniversary and my husband was competing in Tough Mudder at Mt Snow. I cant say enough good things about this Inn. The Innkeepers (Scott and Ariane) were amazing, so friendly and attentive and did everything possible to make our stay memorable. The Inn itself was lovely and very well maintained and clean. Scott even took his shoes off when he entered our guest room! We stayed in Delphinium, which was a beautiful corner room on the second floor. We very much enjoyed the deck off our room to sit on in the evening and morning and had our breakfast out there on our last day. The room also had a gas fireplace and a jacuzzi tub for two. We ate dinner in the restaurant the first night and were very happy and impressed with the food. Im a tough critic when it comes to food and I would eat there again in a heartbeat. The only negative thing I can say about dinner was our server... She didn't have much of a personality and didn't seem happy to be there. We didn't let it ruin our dinner though. The room was a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for with this place! If we ever have a need to visit that part of Vermont, we will surely go back to Deerhill Inn.

So the hubby and I stayed for 2 nights on a slow weekend right before fall. Our room was lovely (although the bed was a bit less comfortable than desired). The two person soaker tub was amazing and the patio off the room was also sweet. The food from the restaurant was awesome, only complaint was that the portions were on the small side and everything is so tasty that it's really leaves you wanting more. I would certainly recommend this place as we really enjoyed our stay. It is the quintessential Vermont Inn and was really a treat to stay here!

What an amazing place! Beautiful Inn, EVERY detail thought of! Ariane and Scott are the innkeepers, and are committed to making sure your experience is seamless. I had a perfectly cooked veterinarian dinner, made to my special dietary needs with a wonderfully paired wine, just the right amount of caring interaction, spectacular views, optional massage and breakfast in bed, and the most delicious chocolate chip cookies! What a wonderful getaway!!

We have had several wonderful meals at the Deerhill Inn. Many items on the menu feature local ingredients. The food is delicious and the service attentive. I would recommend the Inn for a special meal.

We found this place using Yelp. There five star rating is well deserved. This is a top notch Inn tucked in the woods of Vermont just below Mount Snow! We are already planning a return trip. The Inn was super clean and cozy. The inn keepers are sweet as pie.

this was my first bed and breakfast. lets start off by saying the owners are VERY nice they dont hassle you they dont care what time you come in the food is great and the atmosphere is very relaxing i would most certainly do it again. only bad thing is there is nothing to do in vermont but there is a nice local place not to far its actually walking distance from the inn called the saloon its have good fast food and alcohol i would say if you are looking for a getaway up in the mountains in vermont go here you will not be disappointed.

This review is for the restaurant only. The food here was very good but not phenomenal. I was disappointed by the service my girlfriend and I received over the holiday week. We had a reservation for two and were told to wait. We didn't have to wait long, and the service reluctantly brought us a dining menu, but did not offer to let us order wine. Our table when prepared was jammed in a doorway, which was not optimal, and given the place wasn't packed I don't think it was approps. The setting is really romantic and beautiful, and the room is very nice. The menu had pretty limited options which was a little unfortunate. The maple pork chop was delicious. The wine listed on the menu as Santa Barbara wine was not from SB which was a little strange, but forgivable. Overall food was four stars, service was 3, so I'd say its a 3.5.

A one night trip to Vermont was the perfect romantic getaway - there could not have been a better place to stay than the Deerhill Inn. We made a last minute reservation for the Sunday night of Columbus Day weekend... I have no idea how we managed to get a room in such a beautiful place during prime foliage. The house and room (Tamarack) was absolutely gorgeous and very clean. The weather was perfect to enjoy the gas fireplace and a hot bath, and breakfast (in bed?!) was incredibly delicious. It was a little outside of our budget for a single night, but worth every penny. We will definitely be going back!

I have been to many B&B's and none have come close to matching the experience at the Deerhill Inn. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday off of a Groupon, which usually leaves some mixed experiences, but not at the Deerhill. Our room (the Orchid Room) was so beautiful, just laying in bed felt like a luxurious experience. But the real amazement happened every time we interacted with the owner or staff. They went online to print a trail map when we simply asked if they knew anything about the Haystack Mountain trail. The whole trip was full of experiences like this one. However, for me personally the best part was the food. Each morning was exquisite views with chirping birds while you were served fresh baked muffins and a breakfast fit for a king, made fresh to order. No buffet breakfast here! And after a 6 hour kayak down the Battenkill (information on canoe and kayak rentals can be found on the Deerhill website and I highly recommend checking it out - gorgeous!) we freshened up and headed downstairs for an incredible 4 course meal. All the food was incredible and my filet mignon with foie gras mousse simply melted in my mouth. The best part... all that wonderful food, a bottle of wine, and a gorgeous bracelet bought from the art gallery within the Inn, and we were able to simply walk upstairs to our luxurious room! We will be back!! This is the kind of place you could spend a week, without ever leaving the Inn, and still have the most amazing and relaxing vacation. You must try this place!

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We enjoyed chatting with the hostess/owner. The cuisine is sophisticated and yet maintains a classic Vermont feel. The view from our table was lovely. We'll be sure to return soon!

We found this place using yelp. Overall, it was a decent experience, within a reasonable distance of Mt Snow. They offer afternoon tea and comfy beds that make the experience pretty good. However, I found the innkeepers to be attentive to the point of being intrusive, which was pretty annoying on a romantic weekend away with my husband. Additionally, while the food was good, it wasn't as good as they act like it is, and portions were small enough that I overheard more than one person ask for additional food. It is a sit-down breakfast with pretty slow service that I found off-putting, especially on days when we were trying to hit the slopes. We also visited during a pretty big snow storm, and don't feel like they did a great job shoveling the stairs to the parking lot, even long after the storm subsided. My opinion may be biased, as our last VT inn experience (Jackson House in Woodstock) was absolutely unbelievable, and may have ruined us for other inns. Overall, however, I guess I just expected more given the cost to stay here, and it may not be ideal for guests looking for more privacy.

Decided to stray from the B & B we were staying at down the road and enjoyed one of the most enjoyable and pleasant meals we've ever had. Wonderful welcoming atmosphere, beautiful evening to take in the rolling hills from a window front table, very sociable and sincere owners, and delicious food from start to finish. Do yourself a favor and stop there as they are just now going public again with their restaurant.

We just had dinner at the Deerfield Inn, and it was a wonderful dining experience. It was so good that we asked to meet Chef Todd at the end of the meal to congratulate him on his efforts. The French onion soup was superb, a delicate combination of home made stock, slow cooked onions, a crisp slice of bread with a sprinkling of parmeasan cheese....a far cry from the usual condensed beef stock loaded with salt, and ladened with stringy cheese in some sort of crock dish. I had the beef short ribs, a very tender portion, well trimmed, served with a bourbon reduction that was a pleasant conbination of flavors, without being too sweet. The BF had the venision, which he declared to be best he has ever had. There are many fine places to eat in the valley, but I must say that the Deerfield Inn has risen above the crowd. We will be going back. I suggest you make a reservation.

Romantic and cozy. Elegant but friendly. Amazing food---both breakfast and dinner were as good as any world class restaurant (and I travel extensively). Everything was home made, fresh and natural. They make their own charcuterie plate--yummmm..... In the summer you can also enjoy their outdoor pool which is surrounded by a lovely garden. Short drive to Mount Snow. My favorite Inn in Vermont.
